I haven't listened to a single song from any of those bands. Does that make me dumb?

My Morning Jacket- Yes
Avett Brothers- Yes
Black Keys- Yes

haven't listened to any of the others

Black Keys are easily the best out this group anyway(even the ones I haven't listened to and I'm confident in that statement)

Floating Action is on Jim James (My Morning Jackets singer) label.

Houndmouth is new, but very good. Look up Penitentiary.

Futurebirds create the most incredible southern sounds you've ever heard. Youtube Battle For Rome.

Black Keys were great. I have loved them, don't think they're still the same as the used to be.

And I'd argue that your statement is wrong for a few reasons.

One being there is a reason a band like My Morning Jacket headlines events like Bonnaroo while Black Keys play day time sets.

I'll check out all of the ones that I am not familiar with and thx for the recommendations.

A lot of win on that list though.

Doesn't make you dumb, but I do pity your soul.

Cool.

I'm glad you love Deer Tick. I think John McCauley is just incredible. One of my favorite souls on the planet right now.

Of that bunch you haven't listened to, I think Futurebirds might be the easiest to like. You can hear the south in their music so distinctly. I love it. Better summer music, but still good.

And I feel the same way about Real Estate. And can see why you wouldn't like Avetts and Bingham.

Nothing really. Just the way I put it..

The critical person in me thinks that people that aren't aware of certain bands are dumb, but I really don't think people are dumb if they haven't heard of these bands, they're just unaware of them.

Feels good to pass on a good band. Glad you liked it.

Their only full length, Hampton's Lullaby is good, but they have stuff on their EP's that is very good.

Their cover of Wild Heart is great.

And this version of Millstones is great. LINK

Favorites of theirs besides Battle For Rome.

M J B
MegaChills
Man WIth No Knees
Johnny Utah
Aquarium Floor
Sam Jones
APO

Its more sarcasm.

I'm too nice in real life, so I'm a jerk on here.

That's why I have the picture of The Jerk.. kind of an online personality I have. (I have problems).

gotcha.

To answer the question, I have listened to about half the bands listed. I think all I have heard are solid, but I am not enamored with any of them. MMJ and Real Estate are my two favorites of the group I guess and I rarely listen to either.

Just went to that one off of Battle For Rome and liked it as well.

Will have to dive into them a bit more.

Wow, I was gonna make snide comments about hipster indie band lovers, but I actually do like some of this music. And then I noticed Steve Martin and your above explanation.

Probably a good dude to have a brew with.

P.S. My IQ--in THIS facet of music--is still low.
