This was going to be my suggestion. Just check out the post rock genre. Not as crescendo based but Mogwai and Slint are both two highly respected bands in the genre.

Then you can get into bands like Alcest and Deafheaven which are a little more metal based but also beautiful.

Explosions is one of my favorite bands

The earth is not a cold dead place is to me, a perfect almost hour of music. Can let it play and wash over you . No telling how many long drives or with stuff weighing on my mind, to hit play on it and just think .

They hardly tour much even pre-Covid and I’ve been lucky to see them twice live and it’s amazing each time . They hit the opening guitar on “ your hand in mine” the first time and the crowd went nuts and I could myself being transported to a better place . That was so good.

Love these bands.

If you're looking to go acoustic and a little lighter, but still energetic check out City of the Sun. I was sitting in Longway Tavern (RIP) a couple years ago and the bartender had them on. It was one of those instant Shazam moments.
