As I posted a few days ago...
One show I would love to have been at: The Byrds on The Grand Ole Opry in 1968.
With new member Gram Parsons they were pioneering country-rock but were mistrusted by the Nashville establishment as long-haired hippies. During their set they were booed -- Opry regular Tompall Glaser allegedly kept yelling "tweet tweet" while they were onstage -- although as the audience heard the bands respectful take on country music they became more appreciative and even applauded.
Unfortunately no recordings exist of this show
Also, Elvis Presley's one appearance on the Grand Ole Opry (October 2, 1954). After his performance Opry manager Jim Denny told Elvis he should consider going back to driving a truck.
And of course, The Kingfish club in BR, January 9, 1978:

March 1, 1969 in Miami. To see if Jim Morrison actually exposed himself. Some believe that was actually the beginning of his demise. He was so worried about going to jail that he went to Europe and began doing more and more heroin.

One of my college roommates was a Navy brat. His father's commanding officer was ADM Morrison. He said the Morrisons never mentioned Jim's name.
