If only that stingray wouldn’t have gotten him

He was very good. When you make a song that everybody knows the words to you are on a different level.

Yea, great guitarist, singer and songwriter

He was like the Garth Brooks of his time, he got craploads of play on the radio across different formats of stations.

He was great. I was a fan way back when he was part of the Chad Mitchell trio.

Rocky Mountain High is probably the greatest song of Americana of all time.

He didn’t write Country Roads, btw.

“An Evenung With John Denver” was my first record as a kid. I played it hundreds of times. I still remember when he’s talking about his grandma giving him his first guitar, and two young girls yell out,”Yaaayy Grandma!” In classic fashion, Denver replies,”Far out!” Dude was definitely a space cadet, but a great entertainer. Just imagine the music we missed out on. He was as big a loss as Karen Carpenter.

His voice was fantastic. I've always loved his music.

He was so pure that my Catholic church played his music on a jambox while all us kids participated in our First Reconciliation in the sanctuary.

I also miss John Denver for his great music, sincerity, and chill demeanor. Definite part of Americana.
The usual snobs frowned upon his music and personality as too "saccharine" and not enough "edgy". Screw 'em.
And..screw the performing "artists" (hello Paul Simon etal) who ridiculed rejected John Denver as being part of the "WE ARE THE WORLD" project. Denver was already doing that kind of charity stuff before any of those self-serving clowns.

and let's not forget that special winter olympic music he wrote.

At the “We Are The World” session Paul Simon looked around and said if a bomb hits this building John Denver is back on top.

He and Glen Campbell were 2 fantastic voices.
Annie's Song is probably the prettiest love song ever made.

My mother and dad loaded up the family wagon and took us kids to the Monroe Civic Center to see him on that tour.

I loved John Denver. Still do.

He sang it but didn’t write it, just to be clear.
That said, Denver was a very talented performer and recording artist.

When I first met my wife, who was from Colorado, we were driving the foothills around Denver and she wanted to show me Red Rocks Amphitheater. There was a concert that evening, John Denver with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. It wasn’t sold out because it was late in his career, and by that time he wasn’t that popular with the locals. I said let’s go! It turned out to be one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. It was also my birthday, and listening to John with that accompaniment while watching that full August moon rise over the stage with the girl who would eventually become my wife, was pretty special.
