There's a time and place for both, kind of like Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog.
Maynard's vocals really shine on APC (Orestes, Gravity). However, Tool's music is simply magic.

Tool is a Top 5 band for me.
APC is ... interesting to say the least. I have not connected with any of their songs.

I feel like Tool is better. Lateralus is one of the best albums ever recorded in any genre of music

I am a Tool fan, but it always seems like I connect with only 1 or 2 songs on each album. APC’s albums, minus the turd they recently put out, hits me just right from beginning to end, for the most part.

In fairness, I have not listened to the new album enough to decide exactly where I stand on any of the songs.
I will say, though, “Stinkfist” and “The Pot” are absolutely two of my most favorite songs of all time by anyone. When I need to pump myself up, those are my first two choices.

I have to agree. I’ve always been a Tool fan and have seen them live too many times to count. But A Perfect Circle hooked me. Especially with 13th Step album. The Noose being my favorite. And Gravity a close second.

TOOL is the better band, but 13th Step is one of the best concept albums of all time.

They are both great in their own regards. Mer de Noms and 13th Step are excellent. I thought Eat the Elephant was pretty good too. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me.

Seen both live multiple times. I agree with whoever said there is a time for both. I appreciate the differences.

That recent turd they put out is better than Tools latest.
All you millennials who just recently discovered Tool are ridiculous. In no way, shape, or form is Fear Inoculum better than any previous Tool album. In fact, it's their worst effort.
13 minute songs do not equal greatness.
