I was late to the bus but it is what it is. I will be going to my first "Dead" type show in a week at The Cynthia Woods Pavilion in the Woodlands.

While I understand its not like the original band, I am as excited as I have been for a concert since I was a teen.

I dont need a miracle.......but I do need a hearing aid.

Jack Straw - One of my favorites songs now

If you think this version is too slow, just playback at 125% and call up your inner Jerry!

I really enjoyed Dead and Co on their first tour. Haven't heard good things since, and ticket prices have shot up. I just go to a bunch of other cover band Dead shows now instead of D&Co. Stolen Faces, Cosmic Charlie, Dark Star Orchestra. You'll really enjoy it though, I love the atmosphere at any Dead show.

Two of those are way more active lol I can see them multiple times per year. There are a lot more good bands out there.

I understand but given how many times I could have seen the Grateful Dead since 1973 (my first live concert) but wasn't interested in them back in the day* I am really looking forward to seeing 3 of the original members play.

*I have seen so many traditional rock bands in the 70's and 80's Rolling Stones, Who, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, ELP, BTO, CCR, ZZ Top, Kiss, Rod Stewart, Lynard Skynard, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Doobies, Allman Brothers and own and own...

No doubt. I check my seats and post the area I will be in. Will be staying at Westin at the Woodland Hotel.

Jack Straw is a great song. My first time hearing it was listening to it on Europe ‘72 on my Sony Discman. I can still remember it vividly. I was sitting alone in my car while giving a ride to a friend to run an errand. Had to be in late ‘87. I hadn’t gotten my first bootleg tapes yet, had only seen one show, and was learning their music by buying a CD or two every couple weeks when I got paid. She had been to my first show with me. I told her about the song when she got back in the car, gave her the headphones, and played it for her.

The lyrics are top shelf but the understated guitar noodling in the middle and towards the end is, for what ever reason, mesmerizing to me no matter how many times I hear it.

I was at the St. Louis show and thought it was great. Had lawn seats and walked right down to the front row. There were seats everywhere. I was not impressed by what I saw and heard in the pit. The continuous loud talking was seriously annoying. The audience tape on the archive also has the same amount of talking, but the sound is really good. I guess it's different now a days. Have fun!

If you saw your first concert in 1973 you must be an older dude. How did you miss the Grateful Dead in their heyday?

I will be at the show as well. Does anyone know what parking is like around the venue? I saw they have free lots, do those usually fill up quick?

One of the great questions of my life. We were into loud hard rock Stones, Zeppelin, Who etc. My friend's older brother tried to get us in interested in them but it was "too mellow" for us as we were just raging teens looking for raging scenes

Y’all have fun. I thought I’d hit Chicago, but didn’t. Thought I’d hit Dallas and Houston, but now I’m not. I fear this may be one of my last chances but I just can’t make it happen.

Though is anybody had an extra pit to Woodlands I’d buy it and drive over. It’s cause problems in my life but it’s not like my life is problem free anyway.
