Seems like every radio station had a T-Pain or Akon song playing from 2005-2010.

there time was up

kind of a specific niche, both of them.

Hip hop and R&B artists are held to a "what have you done for me lately standard" too. It's a fleeting genre.

IMO

Rappers tend to have a short shelf life, especially gimmicky ones like T-Pain. Did he ever sing normally or did he always use that stupid robot voice? I don't know how that was ever popular.

T-Pain has been on prime time network television quite a few times this year...but no one has actually seen him.

The Masked Singer finale is tomorrow night.

Both didn't have any true talent. Only a few rappers last past 10 years. Eminem, Dre, Jay-Z, and Kanye all have talent that goes beyond a few good rhymes and some decent beats

I don't think Akon even makes music anymore. He has become a great humanitarian though. He does some great stuff.

While I do get your point. Neither Akon nor Pain are even rappers. They both rap in their music, but theyre both singers really. TPain is definitely very talented, he just doesn't make tje best music that can showcase his talent at all.

Auto tune didn't go anywhere. T Pain was the first guy to really popularize it. He caught flack and fell off. Now dang near every single rapper and singer in multiple genres all use auto tune.

Same thing happened with Ja Rule...He was the Drake of the early 2000’s, then disappeared.
