Thoughts on this band? The albums kidn of blend together, but it's all pretty good. For those who haven't listen to them, I guess they're kind of a Southern indie-folk-rock mashup.

They've put out some good stuff over the last 5-10 years.
If you like them, give Phosphorescent a try too.
Judging by your name, you like the dead. HGM and Phosphorescent both had fantastic covers on the Day of the Dead covers album that was put out a few years back. HGM just happened to cover Brown Eyed Women and Phosphorescent did Sugaree and Standing on the Moon.

Mahogany Dread and Saturday Song off Lateness of Dancers are good. He’s based around my parts and I’ve seen them a handful of times. That album has a Van Morrison feel to me.
I’ve followed him on Instagram for years but since he hasn’t been playing shows everything he posts is “woke”. I’m close to deleting him.

Agreed on the woke part. I was generally a fan of his music, but his social media posts are insufferable. I’m pretty much done with him now. Rarely ever listen to HGM anymore.

He’s actually started to turn the comments off.
One of the dumbest was he posted a beautiful picture he took of the Western North Carolina mountains and went on this rant about how there were only white people in that remote town and it was heartbreaking. I’m like dude. There weren’t plantations in the mountains and the only people that originally lived there were Irish and scotch dirt poor immigrants that lived in shacks. Quit bitching at a cloud.

They’re currently one of my favorite bands and band member Phil Cook is a vastly underrated music artist. Highly recommend checking him out if you’re into Hiss. He’s one of those artists I’m really hoping gets more play and I try and tell as many people as I can about him.
