Classic style Jazz bass I built a while back. All parts neck, Custom shop pickups, and cust paint job by my auto body guy in an approximate of Sonic blue.

A build from a few years ago, redesignated Carondelet SN001 when we started building demo guitars for our pickups. A "contour Tele" (arm and belly cuts like a Strat) in heavy relic "desert sand." This plank hosts my "Carondelet T" duet. Both pickups are true singles; both are full gauss A5/A2 hybrids; neck is RWRP for hum-free in the "both" position; and the voicing is twangy but with a prominent creamy vintage hot. This Tele sounds like the first two Zeppelin albums and is hands down the best Telecaster I have ever encountered in my life.

Carondelet SN007, my daily player and my stable's MVP, is a heavy relic "overspray" tribute.
Fullerton-era Fender's most popular colors were sunburst, black and olympic white, and they would shoot bodies in those three colors hundreds at a time.
Custom, flashier colors debuted in the late '50s. Not only were they inspired by post-WWII Eisenhower America's love with the automobile, the paint recipes were typically - and ingeniously - the actual colors used by Detroit's big automakers.
DuPont 2936-L, "burgundy mist," was a popular Oldsmobile color in this era. How popular a color? The same recipe was offered by Buick as "lido lavender" and by Pontiac as "royal amethyst."
Often when a custom color was spec'ed, Fender factory workers could save time by shooting the special color over an already painted body. The original undercoat served as a sealer and primer, that would eventually be revealed via player wear decades later. 007 is Fender's custom color "burgundy mist," shot directly atop a common Fender sunburst of the era.
It wears Carondelet's flagship "Jeffbuckers," A8 bridge, A3 neck. That mini-switch simultaneously splits both pickups to single coil mode without the typical volume drop associated with tapped humbuckers.

I am going to order an all mahogany telly kit from Stew Mac soon. I've got a set of Fender Noiseless pick ups to go in it, just for something different.
The LP JR. kit I got from them, turned out really well. I'm in the process of adding a neck pick up to that one right now.
If the telly kit is even close to as good, it will make a great guitar eventually.

I just bought my first "Fender" strat. I had an old Squire Affinity strat years ago that I played around with and tried to build but gut busy in college and ended up losing it in a move. I bought a Fender Mexican Special Edition Player Series a couple weeks ago and already looking at some upgrade ideas but I don't know much about the hardware and electronics in it.

Like somebody suggested a couple weeks back, check out the Stratosphere site. I didn't know about them, but they have a lot of great stuff.

Thanks guys. I wanted to do my bass to be close in looks to a classic 60's jazz bass and with a classic color. I wanted Sonic Blue, but my paint guy could not find a chip color for it. When looking up pictures to give him an idea, the Sonic Blue looks different in about every picture, I guess due to aging of the guitars. We worked and just got a very light blue color worked up we called SP Blue (Sonic Pete Blue) and went with it. I also used a classic Fender bridge as seen in the pic, but I have since changed and put a Badass ii bridge on it. I hate to lose the classic look somewhat, but the high mass bridge just makes the bass play so much better. I have a Badass ii on my parts P bass, no pics but will get some, and my Geddy Lee Jazz has a high mass bridge similar to the Badass. They just work so much better for me. But, I got a Fender American Original Jazz a few months back and it has the classic style bridge and I am liking it. It is a very nice bass and I don't want to change anyting on it so I am glad the bridge is working out.
The logo is great because I found a place that does custom waterslide logos in the Fender font.

I know a lot of folks out there make some outstanding pickups, even maybe someone here, but I have to give it up to Fender. I know I’m bias to Fender, but I have the Custom Shop 60’s Jazz pickups and an Original ‘62 P Bass pickup and they are on point. The tone is just right. Plus the stock pickups on my American Original and Geddy Lee are amazing.
I’ve got this Marcus Miller Sire Jazz neck I picked up for my next project.

Since we all love a sweet blue hue :)
SN003 upon completion, before logo'ing ... "daphne blue" pine strat, loaded with Carondelet S vintage inspired SSS A5/A2 hybrid trio.
SN004 upon completion, before logo'ing ... "ice metallic blue" pine strat, loaded with SPA90 (Strat-sized P-90s) trio.
SN016, "metallic blue", alder Precision bass, loaded with one Carondelet P (vintage materials, modern tweaks and a 10 percent overwind).
All three of these sold to local buyers shortly after completion, so keep your eye open around town for them!

Partscaster 1: Midnight Blue MIM body from the early 1980s. Warmoth flame maple neck with ebony fretboard. Abby Ybarra wound Fender Custom Shop 1969 pickups.
Partscaster 2: Black 1998 American Standard body. Warmoth flame maple neck with ebony fretboard. Lollar Blackface pickups HSS.
For those of you who watch Rick Beato... his friend Dave Onorato assembled them for me a couple of years ago.

Really love that midnight blue one. That pearl pickguard does the trick on that one.
