Axle banged Adler's girl friend in the recording studio and recorded it. The sex sounds you hear on Rocket Queen is from Adler's old lady. Maybe that's why they don't get along.

Holy crap!!! That's just fricked up

Yea no kidding, there are a lot of lost years that could have been great and Axl fricked it all up

Izzy wasn't on Illusions?

Yes, he was a big contributor. He sung lead on some songs and had a hand in the writing of most of them.

He recorded some of the songs but Slash played a lot of both guitar parts for a lot of the songs as well. Gilby Clarke was touring with them for the Illusion tour

You're somewhat mistaken. Izzy had recently gotten sober after being really out there on cocaine. He didn't really like the way the music sounded as much with out Adler behind the kit. He thought Sorum was more technical, but lacked Steven's innate feel for the groove.

He left the band during the Use You Illusions tour not long after the St. Louis debacle.

He's returned several times and played shows with GNR over the years, starting in back in '93 when Gilby Clark broke his wrist and Izzy subbed for him until he could play again. He's still on friendly terms with Axl. He played a number of shows with them as recently as 2012.

Izzy is pretty bad off from years of drug abuse.

Not true. He's been clean for many years. He's doing fine.

Matt Sorum >>> Steven Adler too

Not as far as Guns 'N Roses is concerned.

As far as I was concerned back in the day, GNR was pretty much over for me when Adler was fired. Once I heard the horrible bullshite that was "November Rain" and "Don't Cry". that was the only nails that coffin needed. Izzy leaving only put the last clump of dirt on the hole.

still seems like Slash is doing good.

Slash has become obsessed with Myles Kennedy the past few years. I know Myles is the singer for all his albums and band now but it's sort of weird now. When Slash played with Kings of Chaos he brought Myles with him instead of letting Sebastian Bach sing.

BTW, I always thought the song Slash did with Fergie wasn't appreciated enough. She has a great rock voice.

When Kennedy sang for them during the HOF induction show, I thought the reason Slash likes him so much is that he can sing enough like Axl to make the inevitable GNR songs Slash is going to perform sound credible. He can't take just anybody out on the road. They have to be able to sound enough like Axl to please the fans.

And honestly, Kennedy did such a good job at the HOF show that I bet he sounds better than Axl himself nowadays.

The easiest way for G&R to get back on track is to start drinking and drugs again. He just can't pull the badass thing sober

Last night, I had to Youtube the paradise city video to make sure i wasn't totally delusional to like this band at one time.

Axel looked like a prop stop reject.

Was always a huge GNR fan. Saw Slash and Miles Kennedy about a year or so ago at the HOB in New Orleans. Unbelievable show. Yes did a few GNR songs and were on point, but their original stuff was/is really good. New CD is coming out later this year. Hoping to see them again, but it seems i'd have to put up with an hour and a half of Aerosmith in order to do so (as they are touring together).

Also Slash has a new single "world on fire" out on the web.

Duff's book, It's So Easy, was fricking awesome

I read that last year on vacation and really enjoyed it. Definitely a great book, even if you're just a moderate GNR fan.

After I finished it, I listened to all the albums over-and-over with a new appreciation for the music.

I saw GNR in the Superdome when they toured with Metallica in the early 90's. After Metallica performed Axl pulled his usual shite and GNR didn't come onstage for another 2-3 hours. Nobody in the audience cared because there was a titty cam showing girls flashing themselves on the overhead screens in the Dome. Axl must have been pissed that nobody cared when he came on late and he said something about New Orlenians must like to go to bed early. Somebody in front the stage screamed "No you're putting us to sleep"! Axl said " Oh I'm putting you to sleep"? He then tore into the first song and played a blistering set.
