I saw GNR on the Use Your Illusion tour at LSU in 92 & enjoyed it but was still disappointed. I saw them at the Superdome 2 years ago & was blown away how great they were. I have never been to a show where I expected so little & got so much & I go to a ton of shows.
I am an Appetite fanatic & just wanted to see the original 5 back together. Maybe one day it will happen but I am not losing any sleep over it. I just wish I could have seen them on the Appetite tour.

Appetite tour.
Think you mean the Motley Crue, Girls Girls Girls tour. I saw them opening for the Crue in 1987 about 2 months before Appetite came out and I don't remember them ever doing a headline tour in support of that album.

Slash's tone is not nearly as good as it was in the day. It used to be pretty unique, this recording sounds pretty heavy metal average to me. I know he used to use the Marshall Silver Jubilees, I'm curious about this rig.
Still pretty rockin. Axl can still belt it out. Pretty amazing really.

Oh, what I'd give to be behind the scenes of that tour's parties....

A few weeks back I saw a clip on FB of GNR playing Rocket Queen at the Apollo theater last year. Everything was fine until Axl started singing. Holy shite, he sounded horrible. Don't know if it was because his voice is just shot or because it'd been a long tour by that point, but he was a shadow of his 1988 self. He's just softly singing the lines, instead of his full throat-ed raspy vocals from the past.

Not true. That tour was the fall of 1987, and Appetite was definitely out.
It was also out that summer, as they played New Orleans opening for The Cult in August of that year.
No one knew who the heck they were at either gig!

They kicked arse when I saw them in Huntsville.

Damn it sucks getting old..You are correct. The album came out in July. I saw them in November. Don't know why I was thinking I saw them before it released.

No Izzy, no Adler, no care. I mean, FFS, they didn't even bring Matt Sorum (which would have been worse than Adler, but at least partially authentic).
Axl really fricked those guys over, especially Adler.

I think I was there too. Didn’t Soundgarden open?
Saw them at the dome with Faith No More and Metallica. Great show.
Went two years ago...great show and sound but something just felt different. Maybe how old I am and everyone else was too.....
