Guitarists: Suggestions on pickups to upgrade to

I am going to upgrade the pickups on my old guitar:
It was my first guitar and i want to put better pickups in it to play around with. My favorite guitar to play is my Les Paul with an Alnico Pro II and a Pearly Gates in it, so i want something with a brighter/ different sound. I have a memoryboy, boss phaser, bigmuff, and a crybaby i play through.
Any suggestions are welcome.

I researched/ watched videos/ listened too/ played pickups when i was getting ready to replace the stock ones in my Les Paul for like a month before i made a decision, so i know a bunch about humbuckers, but i know 0 about single coils. Hopefully someone on here plays guitar and can help me out.

my guitars have either duncan jb/59 setups, or the petrucci dimarzio crunchlab/liquifire setup.
jb is clean, nothing chart setting. good articulation in distortion. most guitarists use a pickup similar to this when playing passive pickups for rock.
the crunchlab is very good. cermaic magnetic. handles mid and low ranges better than most. very tight.
for your single coils, try out dimarzio injectors. great sounding pickup! LINK

Vintage noisless for the win.
But, I don't know about your bucker. I've never had anything but single coils in my strat. I did have a hollow body that I put two Kleins in..and it sounded great...but it was a big box, and not a strat.

Take a look at some lipstick pickups. They've got a unique bright sound, and they look a lot cooler than the single-coil pickups.

played a couple of guitars with BK's in them. they have recently focused on putting out pickups for 7, 8 strings in which there is very little competition. the djent players dont have anyone making pickups for their style, so BK took the reigns on that one. the nailbombs were the big breakthrough PUs for them, but they were almost all mids with a sharp, nasty bass, especially with the alnicos. even so they were the only real competition to the EMG 808's, but BK has made some real strides and picked up their quality. they listen to their fans like no other company, and i have seen average joes sponsored by them. just some local guitar teacher would be sponsored because he plays ALL day long, so he can give good feedback.
but anyway... the rebel yells are the major upgrade to the nailbomb. pulled back the mids, and readjusted the bass. sounds much more like a beefy single coil than most HBs. great sounding pickup.

watch out with these. they sound great and really nice SC, but the low output is part of their sound. you have to find a well suited HB to toss in there. they make some nice ceramic, low output HBs. Gibson PAF, Fralin or Lindy PAFs would compliment them well.

I can't tell but is that an older Ibanez?
Since it's SSH and you want a "brighter" sound, I might suggest the SH55 Seth Lover in the bridge.
However...you can never have enough guitars, so why upgrade the P/U's in a ~$200 guitar when you're still battling elements such as the body build (wood, tone, chambers), the neck, fretboard, bridge...etc.

I deffinitly have thought about this, but I dont feel like buying a new guitar.
My main guitar is my LP, where ive upgrade the pickups, volume and tone knobs, input jack, bridge...
I just wanted to throw some nice pups in this old guitar for a differnt sound.
