Guitar string help

I need to get a set of strings for a gift. The kid I'm getting this for is all acoustic and is classically trained to play. Seeing how I have no idea on how to even hold a guitar I seek the help of the wise and all knowing MB.

been using these for a few years, and imo they're awesome.
he seems like he's more experienced than i am, though, so he may have something different in mind
ETA: and now the side advertisement is featuring guitar strings

Does he play a nylon-string accoustic?

I have no idea. He's a former student of mine, and is going to BYU to study music.

You need to find out if they're nylon or steel strings. If classical, it's probably nylon. If country or rock , it's steel strings probably. It's important. Look at them to see or you might have to ask.

When elixirs came out way back, they had problems with the resin uncoiling . With all the praise they get they obviously fixed those issues. Always used daddarrios, or martins. Martins die quick but I always seem to find a box laying around the house. I guess it's just leftovers from bebop selling you two packs every time.

This.
That said, I also prefer Nanowebs. Some like Polywebs as well.

Absolutely this. People tend to have a specific preference and would rather the gift card to buy what they want.

Agree! If he's been playing that long, he'll have his own brand he is comfortable with.

But what it he likes shitty strings?
Buying him elixirs would alleviate this possible problem.
