sista, I bet you would really enjoy Althea
that linked website is the GD archives as you will find thousands upon thousands of live recordings (SDBD, DAT, Tapes, etc...). Some amazing quality, and some poor audio quality shows. That way you can research songs you like then listen to live versions for FREE - enjoy.
interesting tidbit .... John Mayer had never heard of or listened to the Grateful Dead. He had zero clue about their huge fan base following. By coincidence in 2011, Althea was playing on his Sirius sat radio. He was immediately turned on, and mesmerized by Jerry's guitar playing. Mayer began practicing Althea and other songs from the GD catalog. He reached out to Bob and in 2015 Dead & Co. was formed and began touring. This is the last tour as I encourage you to catch a nearby show. People shite on JM but the dude can play the guitar. I'm thankful I got to see Bob, Billy, Mickey, and newer band members carry on their versions of the GD for an additional 8 years. Billy's health is not great, and Bob & Mickey won't live forever. My first show was in 1983, as it's been a great 40 years following the band and the remaining original members.

I will check it out.
There are so many bands that I would have loved to hear live, but I was born too late.
I did get to see Bob Seger on his late tour.

Ripple - Landover, MD - 9/3/88
If there is one song that the album version might be better than any live version, I believe it's Ripple.

Have you heard every live version of Ripple?
Also, Unbroken Chain says hello.

Probably not all but the best IMO is one from Fillmore East 71.

I bought the sheet music to "Brokedown Palace". I like the lyrics. I played the song (in a different key) and sang along last night.
Those lyrics are some of the best lyrics ever written.

Both great albums.
I really like the Dead’s studio stuff, but I absolutely detest their live shows.
Same with Phish and WSP.
