But I'll agree that he's put out some absolutely terrible songs as of late.
I'm talking about when I look back on his stuff from the 80's and early 90's, that stuff is kinda vanilla.
Not much passion in his music. Not a dynamic performer. Doesn't get into his music the way Garth did, but then again, not many country performers do.

I think a lot of that may have to do with the fact that he didn't write the majority of his songs, I could be wrong though

Maybe
I don't know how many songs Garth Brooks wrote but he had some passion in his music and I think that's one of the reason he was so successful/popular.

I know I'll take heat for this but I honestly do believe Chesney comes the closet to Garth in terms of performance and overall passion for their music.

That's debatable but there are whole lot of folks more passionate than George Strait is

George Strait is the absolute fricking man!
50+ #1 Hits. Love me some King George!
I will say his newer stuff is not very good in comparison to his back catalog, but the man has had a career any musician of any genre of music would love to have.
Ohhhh yeah and the man gave us... Does Ft. Worth Ever Cross Your Mind
