True. There were some great country pickers back in the day, and Roy Clark was one of the best.
Chet Atkins was probably at the pinnacle.
Glenn Campbell, Hank Garland, Roy Nichols, Lester Flatt, Joe Maphis, Roy Clark and Jerry Reed (among others - Les Paul, if you consider his influence and the fact he kind of played a Jazz/Rock/Country/Pop style) are at or near the top tier, though.

Ever since the first time I heard him play Malaguena...I've been a fan. I saw him play a couple of years ago...his fingers aren't nimble enough anymore to play the good stuff...
