The music board just died for me. Disappointing.
Go back and read that thread to see how you are perceived by backers of the vastly superior lyricist.

I'm gonna have to go with the Stones in terms of a whole body of work.
Although, I do think Pet Sounds is better than anything the Stones have done.
My thoughts exactly.

Why? Biggie had some of the best lyrics and flow ever. Tupac is for white wanna be gangstas.
Seriously. Biggie was rhyming "limelight" and "rhyme tight" while Tupac was rhyming "thug" and "love".

Gahhh. Such a difficult choice. Both bands literally re-wrote the direction of music...
If I have to call it, I'll go Stones, if only because I find Sympathy for the Devil to be one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have ever heard. Both get a thumbs up.

Even in a Beach Boys-Rolling Stones thread I can't get away from this shite

How is this a contest?
Stones by a mile. In a mile race.

The Beach Boys are great and certainly legends themselves but this is a no brainer

What the Beach Boys have going for them is Pet Sounds. It's accolades put in the top 2-3 albums of all time. The Rolling Stones' best is undoubtedly Exile on Main St, and while it's probably a top 10 album it doesn't match PS. But the Rolling Stones also put out Let It Bleed, Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers, Aftermath, and a bunch of others that are better than any other non-compilation album from the Beach boys.

Gotta go with the Stones. They can do rock, country, disco or whatever else they want and they still have had staying power from one generation to the next.
Give the Beach Boys credit for having a large amount of creativity but they can't top the Dirty Uglies.

not even close ... could imagine Goodfellas with a bunch of Beach Boys songs?
Even if the RS had made just Exile, it would still up for debate

This is not a fair match up.
Once Brian Wilson's mental illness manifested itself to the point where he could no longer function in an active and touring rock band, The Beach Boys could not keep up with the Stones.
By mid-1967, it was apparent to astute observers that Brian Wilson was in trouble. Back then, there was NOTHING like the medical care that we have today for people who were born with Brian's mental problems.
