listen to this beezy
That is easily one of the worst covers ever. That said, i'd probably go with 311 just off their first 3 albums.

It is a fact that 311 is way more talented than Sublime so I win.
That is what we call an opinion, which is all good, until you start passing it off as a fact.
You like 311 better than Sublime? Cool

Sublime no contest
311 is terrible. I pity any of you who actually listen to that garbage

Judge Not - Sublime
89 Vision - Sublime
Shame in dem Game - Sublime
It amazes at the songs I see posted on here; nothing on here so far is anything close to their best work. Expand past the 3 albums, God knows there is so much more. I enjoy 311 but they get worked (SWIDT?) by Sublime all muthaphuckin day. Literally, it ain't even close.

Very different genres, but I'll bite.
311
They've released some pretty good stuff, and each album has it's own feel. Granted, the fast-paced rap style stuff is a crapshoot, their intricate stuff is pretty awesome. Plus, as a bassist, I really like Pnut. Not to discredit Sublime's bassist because he is awesome in his own right as well, I just think Pnut is funkier.

I can't believe I used to like both of these bands.

311
I've seen them 14 times since 2000, recently giving up after the Uplifter tour. The last couple albums have been disappointing to say the least, but they had a stretch that really hasn't been seen since bands from the 70's.
Sublime never reached their full potential. I love both bands to the Nth degree and still listen to both nearly every day. They are both great in their own way.
I don't think most people in this thread have delved into both bands on a musicians scale, but 311 has one of the best, most cleanest drummers in modern rock (Chad Sexton), their bassist is pretty fricking on point with popping and slapping on a Warwick (Pnut), and their lead guitarist has a diverse array of tones, sounds, and command on effects (Tim Mahoney).
Bradley Nowell and random crew, while top-level categorically might be lumped in the same genres, really aren't. Both bands are fantastic in their own way and there should really be love on both sides. The haters probably haven't explored both in depth and are making uniformed decisions. Such is consumerism...

311 - only because I like this song a lot. Usually I'd go with Sublime.
*Edit: didn't read the directions until now so Sublime all day
