Few days late, but hadn't seen it mentioned here
No timetable but it sounds imminent, nothing mentioned on who will replace Taylor but I'm guessing Josh Freese.. wouldn't be shocked if they play Jazz Fest

I don't really get it, seems like a good place to hang it up since they've accomplished all there is to accomplish
But I guess they want to keep making music and possibly honor their friend that way

Plenty of bands have lost important members and eventually continued, I don't know why the Foo would be an exception

I'm guessing Josh Freese
I was at the Los Angeles reunion show and the drummer I felt played the most like Taylor was Rufus Taylor from The Darkness. Aside from him, I thought Josh fit the best.
I know they're not popular on this board, but FF has been my favorite band since '98. As a fan and a drummer, Taylor's death hit me hard and I can't shake the feeling that Dave should take a page from Led Zeppelin's playbook and hang it up...

Grohl is shameless and will never hang it up as long as he can get a check under the Foo Fighters name.

Id find Delta and let him wear his get-up

Rufus would have to leave the Darkness and Josh is basically free to join until Taylor's son turns 18 was my main rationale in my guess.

Yeah I never understood that, but yeah they're one of my favorites. Just have a shite ton of bangers.

It sounds like you do get it.
Taylor wouldn't want his death to end the band, I'm sure. And Freese is a great drummer and should fit right in with them.

That's bullshirt. I assume he loves what he is doing and knows when it is time to quit. What's so shameless about getting a check for doing what you love? Don't hate the man for that. Geeze.

Grohl is very talented and there is no reason for the band to stop. As a former drummer he knows what he wants and what he expects.
Even if they never make any more music that have that unique ability to play live and within moments break into almost any number of songs that always come off as great.
They are like your favorite bar or party band in that respect.

Grateful Dead had a few keyboard players over the years and they sold a few tickets.

True, but I don't blame him for it. Everyone likes money. His nice guy holier than thou schtick is annoying and the Foo Fighters are the definition of mediocre. He's appeared on SNL 14 times more than any other musician. Typical. He likes to attach himself to popular movements and tug at people's heart strings. He would be better off touring solo with a kick arse band playing Nirvana, Them Crooked Vultures (New Fang), and other stuff he wrote. I would actually want to see that.
