First one I went to on my own volition was Living Coulour around 87 I think.

Probably '88-89 when they started touring behind the Vivid release unless you saw them at a small club along the east coast. I saw them early '89.

Either Incubus for their "A Crow Left of the Murder" tour or when Chronic Future, Moneen, and Northstar stopped by a tiny restaurant/bar in Houma when I was maybe 14 or 15. Good times.

America with Bob Welch opening -- June 1st, 1979 at the Centroplex.

My first heavy shows were April Wine at the Centroplex on June 26th, 1981, and then Blue Oyster Cult with Foghat opening on Oct. 4th, 1981 at the Centroplex, and I was HOOKED after that!!!

Jerry Lee Lewis in 1981. Only remember Great Balls of Fire and him dancing on the piano.

First concert sans parents was Poison in 88.

Actually that's wrong, I saw Living Colour in 87.

Story time. Maybe TL;DR.

My first concert was Ted Nugent / Scorpions / Def Leppard at the Centroplex back in 1980. Me and my bud got there and grabbed a couple of GA seats at stage left. Two older guys who looked to be either bikers or just criminals posing as bikers took two seats directly in front of us. This was before any bands had started. They sat there for a bit and suddenly got up to go somewhere but they didn't want to lose their seats. They leaned in to me and my friend (we were about 13 years old at the time) and said "Look... we want you two to put your feet in our chairs and hold them for us till we come back. DO NOT let anybody sit here. If we come back and find somebody in these seats we WILL beat your little asses. Got it?" We were successfully buffaloed and we did exactly as they instructed. They actually weren't gone all that long. When they came back they made a big show out of saying "These little dudes are alright! They did us a solid!" They were slapping us on the back and thanking us and all that shite. Then they said "Since you did us a favor we're gonna pay you back!" He grabbed this leather gunpowder pouch and opened the cap on it and said

"Open your mouth... you like whiskey, boy?"
"Uhhh... no thanks."
"I didn't ask you if you wanted it. Open your fricking mouth. NOW!"

I opened up and the gunpowder sack poured me a mouthful. Jimmy got the same treatment. "That's good stuff right there, ain't it? This is (blah blah, some kind of whiskey that he figured was high grade stuff)... you two are getting top shelf shite here! Let's go again..." They took some and then they gave us another blast of it. My eyes were watering; I had never even tasted whiskey before. They laughed it up and settled back into their seats. Me and Jimmy acted like we needed to go to the restroom and got the hell away from there. We were both kind of terrified.

Show was everything we wanted it to be; Def Leppard was just off the boat and more awesome than they ever would be again, Nuge was LOUD as hell, Scorpions rocked. My dad picked us up after the show and never said anything about us smelling like whiskey. I know we had to have had an odor on us.

Next day at school we were no longer little pencilnecked wannabes. We were badass biker-hanging rock and rollers! "Yeah dude, me and Jimmy got drunk off our asses with these bikers at the concert!" Another friend of ours actually saw it go down and corroborated it. We're suddenly talking to 9th grade girls... "Yeah, you ever heard of Def Leppard? No? You will. Just wait. They're gonna be HUGE..."

Seems like a million years ago.
