1. Kansas with Alvin Lee (of Ten Years After) opening, December 1980 at the Cow Palace.
Although it would have been cooler if my first had been one of the next two concerts I went to:
2. Rush at the Oakland Arena during the Moving Pictures tour, June 1981.
3. Van Halen at the Boston Garden during the Fair Warning tour, July 1981. (I was in Cambridge for the summer)
"Hey! Hey! Hey!"
Those were the days.

Y'alls and ol basturd too, don't know if you made it to KC back in the 70's but they had some hellacious Summer Jams at Royals and Arrowhead stadiums, Steve Miller, Jethro Tull, Styx, Rory Gallagher, Robin Trower, Peter Frampton, good times for sure

I had seen plenty of concerts but after seeing SRV and the Tbirds in 1986 just 4 rows back from center stage I realized that was a once in a life time show, dude nearly ripped my head/face off, mind blowing sh!t. I've seen better technical players but never saw anyone play with Stevie's passion.

In 1988 I attended this show in Austin with SRV, the T-Birds, and Bonnie Raitt. There was just one row of people between me and the stage. SRV and his amp were right in front of me. At first it was great having his amp pointed right at my face, but after a few songs I felt like my head was going to explode every time he played the high notes. But experiencing SRV up close was, as you obviously know, an awesome experience.

Mickey Thomas has such a great voice (still). What a waste it's been with Starship.
