Ever heard of Barbara Streisand? I don’t like her political bullshite, but only Whitney Houston on your list approaches her talent.

On a serious note, I've read in the past where all these studio players had to learn not to listen to her sing while recording. Aretha hardly ever overdubbed her vocals. She would do them live with the band tracking. The great Benard Purdie once told Chuck Rainey......whatever you do, don't listen to her sing. If you listen to her, you will get so into it that you'll screw up somewhere in the recording. LOL

I thoroughly enjoy the style of several of the singers you listed.

With that being said, it's a complete and utter insult to list Whitney Houston with that group.

Legends should be included as preferred by poster. My list is more contemporary and "taste" is a stated variable.
