Fans of The CULT - best songs and album?

I think there are a handful of us who have listened to every song, including the B sides. The Cult from '83-'86 were sort of alternative, before alternative became hip to the scene.
In 1987, Double R obviously wanted them to become more like ACDC and GNR and stripped them down to power chords and screams. If you had not listened to the Dreamtime album and Love albums, you may have thought Electric was badass and nothing was better. You still might have thought it was the best anyway. After my list, I will give you a comparison model of what the Cult was going to do (the Manor sessions stuff, etc.) versus what they became. You decide.

4. Self-titled (1994 release)

6. Beyond Good and Evil
7. The others. Not a fan of any. Ceremony especially.

Which do you like better. Should the Cult have stayed more like they were on The Love album or became what they became 9by the way, after Sonic Temple, they were much ado about nothing to music lovers and radio/MTV). Regardless, Electric pretty much made them millionaires for a while.

Roger, Sun King was a good song. I like it as an opener. My favorite song on that album was...

I have LOVE and ELECTRIC on vinyl, cd, mp3, you name it...totally different albums that depend on which mood you're in. Love is a better psychedelic sound and Electric is more of a rock-out with ya cock out album. Sonic Temple was a watered down Electric overall.

I'm a bit of a fan so I feel obligated to chime in. Love and Electric are two of the best albums I own. They show the range and variety of The Cult. Personally like electric better but I am more of a rock fan. Sonic temple and beyond good and evil are worthy in the 3 and 4 slot. The Black Goat album is very good too and takes them into a different sound. Weapon takes a few times to listen to appreciate it, so if you haven't ......do and it does hold up. Dreamtime I am ok with but it was very unpolished. If you want to hear something even earlier ck out southern death cult. Very interesting. Ceremony and dirty little are the weak links but both have some good individual tracks. And I love the ManorSessions when I am looking for something cool.
Besides King Contraryman, the witch is the best single (IMHO) but they all are great. How many times do you hear any from them and change the channel.
Very under appreciated band. Can't wait for Biloxi, lake chuck and NO. But none will match the two shows at the varsity.

No way possible to list my favorite album or song b/c I like them all.
Choice of Weapon is pretty good.

Firewoman NYC mix
(yes, I purposely found clips recorded from vinyl)
Here's a good interview in Ian saying they are still paying off debt to eletric ladyland studios for Electric, jokingly of course. around 18 minutes.

One of the best rhythm sections I have heard on this song...their Whistle test performance of it is outstanding. You can tell they are just coming into their own. Nigel Preston was a terrific drummer.
How that song NEVER appeared on a major album instead of being a B side and a "rarity" is beyond me.

Resurrection Joe LIve (listen to bass and drums...hard to ignore the psychadelic guitar
Stewart (bass) and Preston (drums) are hypnotizing. This is one of their best performances and before Ian started shouting versus singing.
Ian must have done a lot of coke and drank a ton. His voice gets worse over time. He's still a great front man.
