Oh, goodness... I hate to see a member of one of the "Big Four" thrash metal titans go down this way, but if Ellefson's diddling, it's justified. Kudos to Mustaine for cutting ties, here.

This entire story is nuts. Ellefson is an essential part of the band. It’s going to be interesting to see who they replace him with on the heels of a summer tour that hopefully will happen. I have tickets for the Irving show in August & I’m sick of it being postponed.

If Mustaine could somehow lure ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted out of retirement, I'd buy my ticket, today. The PR for those shows writes itself.

I’m with you but Newstead just said in an interview that he can no longer play hard & fast music due to his physical issues from his past surgeries. If you saw him play back in the day this is not a surprise with what he did to his body onstage.

Saddens me if Ellefson is guilty .Always seemed like a stright up cat in interviews .Megadeth has been a shell of itself since Countdown to Extinction came out . Every album after that one was garbage .Mustaine has no vocals left ( i know throat cancer contributed to this but even before that he was shot) . The first 4 Megadeth albums rival anyones first 4 albums but after that they really fell off .

There's lots of debate online as to what should be done and if Mustaine is wrong from showing Ellefson the door in light of recent events. I can't fault Mustaine for this; Ellefson should've exercised better judgment.

The whole "with an already strained relationship" bit makes me think there's more to this than we know. Don't forget mustaine and ellefson were going through a nasty legal battle not long ago.
My guess, they weren't getting along before any of this happened and mustaine saw this as his excuse to finally fire ellefson.

There is obviously a lot we don’t know here...what DE did was idiotic and embarrassing, but fireable? No way...now, if it comes out that under age girls were involved in any way, then obviously that changes everything...
