my advice is to youtube demos of pedals you're interested in and look at reverb for used pedals. usually can find some really good deals on there.

Good advice. I'd also suggest craigslist. The advantage there is that you can listen to it before you buy it.

Or just go to guitar center and demo the pedals yourself

(Then buy them online for cheaper )

Definitely good advice. If you ask nicely, they’ll let you play with anything except for maybe the really expensive gibsons.

Hey, before you buy a new squier telly, I have a friend that can hook you up with a used squier telly, that he has already upgraded electronics and pick ups for around 300 bucks. It's a much better option IMO. He builds all kinds of Telecasters and partscasters all the time, and will ship to you. he's really good.

Look up: Rick's Guitars in Childersburg, Alabama.

I don't know if he has a website, but you could call him and find out. Tip: Keep calling him he opens up shop whenever he wants

I bought one that he put together out of Classic vibe neck and parts, on some kind of Aftermarket plastic body, that's seafoam green with beige binding and pick guard. It sounds and plays fantastic, and looks beautiful, for 300 bucks. The colors look like a 56 chevy or something. I have all kinds of American, Mexican, and even 1 Jap telly and other squier tellies, but I play that one more than any of them.

If I'm not mistaken the affinity nut is more narrow then other Squire or Fender teles. You might feel a little cramped on it.
I didn’t know that, thx. My hands are fairly big and I’ve played a 12 string acoustic with 6 strings for many years...play it with 12 too but point being I’m used to spreading wide

My favorite pedal is Wampler’s Ethereal. Basically a mix of reverb and delay in one pedal allowing you to adjust each individually. For the music I like to play, it’s essential.
Outside of that, a compression pedal is pretty essential if you’re playing live stuff with a band.
If you’re just messing around at home, reverb and distortion are awesome.

I went Classic Vibe after the affinity and I'm done upgrading. There is no need to move further up in the Fender line if you dont mind the guitar says Squire and is made in China.

Now look, The classic vibes are great little guitars, but they are a far cry, from being on the level of a good U.S., or Japanese Telly. The tone, and fullness of sound that a really good telly has, is something that you can literally feel, as much as you can hear it. The classic vibe ones, don't quite have it.

The problem for me, when I pick up one of my really good ones, I want to just play it and hear it. It's all about The Guitar and what I can do with it. I don't want to sing, I don't want to work on songs. I just want to play.

The classic vibe ones are really good for writing, they sound good enough for what you are doing, but not so good that they wrap you all up. That's why I tend to play the classic vibe one most.
