The first album I ever heard at a friend's house was Pornography and the next day went to the record store (showing my age) to purchase it on CD. The only CD they had by The Cure was Head on the Door which I picked up and was my second listen and quickly became one of my favorite summer drive with the windows down album.
The first time I saw them live was at Poplar Creek outside of Chicago in 1986. It was an outdoor venue and just before they were to come on stage there was an incredible electrical storm. Understanding that most in attendance were wearing heavy makeup and a full can of hairspray, the thunderstorm deluge left all in attendance a soggy drenched Gothic mess, just in time to greet Robert Smith.
Favorite show/tour would be the Kiss Me tour at the Rosemont Horizon (Chicago...later 80s). The marijuana haze was incredible as they began the song Snakepit.
The first show on their last album tour was in New Orleans which I was at, and was delighted that they performed Cold from their Pornography album which was an absolute treat. They always put on a solid live show, 2 hours plus.

being renovated now. New place will be called “Ricky’s” and will undoubtedly be mediocre just like every other place the new owners run
