Like Lumineers.
Dislike Mumford.
Dislike Mumford.

When a Lumineers song is played on the radio, I am compelled to sing along, which makes me like them. The people around me, not so much.

Regardless, they are folk influenced, same with Mumffy and Co.

M&S is...well.... not

No I get that, my point is the basis is similar...Folk
Comparing the two is apples and oranges to an extent, yes, but I'm just pointing out that M&S is a folk band with some added piece of flair
FM's flair is punk
M&S's flair is soft diddle daddle verse, ferocious bridge/chorus
Both have a basis of folk
ETA: Just to reiterate, I think Sanford and Sons blows

M&S and Lumineers is new and different to those that don't realize there is HUGE music scene out there other than what is played on the radio.
I have honestly never heard either on the radio. I would LOVE to find a station that played that style of music.

Sure, but I was thinking more about over the air, for the car.

Listen, I live in Alabama. All I hear is Luke Bryan, Bruno Mars, and the Eagles.

The Lumineers an indie-esque band for people that really don't like good indie rock.
I have absolutely no idea what this means.

What part? I was in Birmingham over the weekend and listened to Mountain Radio 107.3. I heard Lumineers, Mumford, Black Crowes, Gary Clark Jr, Foo Fighters, Avetts, Amos Lee, & Wilco. Wish we had something like that in Atlanta.

Its music for pussies. Seriously.
All of the folk crap
All of the folk crap

You know it's bad when Doc and Heady etc. are all agreeing on something.
Seriously though I saw Mumford at Waka a few years ago and everyone was hyping it up and I just didn't think they were all that.
Lumineers are much better IMO although not my type of music either

There was nothing original or legitimate about Nickelback. Ever.
There's really nothing original about M&S either. Just that it's getting played on pop radio, that's all that's new about it.
And I don't see how you can argue Nickelback is not legitimate. They aren't good, don't get me wrong. But they do write and play their own material, how is that not legitimate? Milli Vanilli was illegitimate. Neither Nickelback nor M&S are illegitimate. However, neither is more legitimate than the other, IMO.

they'd still be a step above Nickelback.
I think M&S is a step above Nickelback in that they seem to be more talented musicians. My argument is that they've found, essentially, one song formula that sells and that's what they're sticking with. Not much creativity or originality beyond that. And really, like I said above, the only creativity and originality there to begin with is that their formula is somewhat fresh in pop music.

I've said it before, but it's becoming more apparent that most of you have never listened to an entire Mumford album.
