I like having it all out of the way, but for those old enough, don't you miss checking out the album art, reading the production credits, lyrics, random photos and other tidbits?
And there was a comfort to it like having a bunch of books around.

I love my albums and love looking at the rows of them and pulling one out, putting on the turntable and reading the lyrics and liner notes

I've kept all my CDs even though I ripped them and have the loselss files stored on an NAS server. I still buy them if I can't find a lossless version to download. My vinyl and SACDs are still in a room whereas the CDs are in storage.

How do people date these days?
The first thing I would do with a new lady is check out the CDs she had. I fell in love with my wife because she had such a great musical taste.
Now what do people do? Let me see your phone?
Kids these days!
(Of course, I don't miss all those CDs in my truck taking up space. I like being able to listen to completely random stuff when I want)

Essentially it is the same thing, but you can just look at someone's music "likes" on facebook.
To the OP, I love having my vinyl on display and out so I see it often. I actually play my vinyl so I don't consider it clutter. I would consider CD's clutter because I never use them.

Hell yeah. I always studied the linear notes and artwork. . I gave all vinyl to friends years ago and straight threw my tape collection in a dumpster before moving one time. . There was so much rare stuff accumulated from taping vinyl 7"s and CDs from other people.
I miss some of that stuff daily.

I burned all my CD's to an external hard drive. They are sitting in a storage room off my garage, melting/ ruining.
My parents are both deceased, and I sold all of their albums, 8 tracks, 45's, and enromous ceder-chest-like stereo in an estate sale. I liked both of thier tastes in music for the most part. Single and still living in apartments at that time. Sold most of my cassette tapes too mostly with that sale. (I DO still have thriller on cassete tape) I also had a few 45's myself.
Would love to go thru all of that right now.
