Like name bands on the way up for example?

Back in the 60's (I know, I know) my high school hosted the Byrds, Love, the Seeds and the Strawberry Alarmclock. Our neighboring high school down the road had the Buffalo Springfield play … and the Doors played at Beverly Hills High and, I believe, Santa Monica High as well.

Subtle brag? Not really. Back then it was common for local (L.A.) bands to do high school gigs to promote songs and albums and pick up new fans. They sure didn't do these gigs for the money.

I just wonder if this sort of thing happened outside of L.A. or S.F.

Fugazi

Wow. Damn shame it was cancelled, but not surprising: the vice-principle probably got hold of their lyrics and shite in his pants. Concert cancelled.

It wouldn't surprise me if a group like the Ramones played high schools in and around New York and New Jersey. Maybe Springsteen too when he was starting out.

Biggest name we had, and I don't even know they were popular outside of Alabama, was Dean Dollar Band.

My mother in law says Three Dog Night played at their prom.

I heard Dr. Drew say on the Adam Carolla Show that Van Halen played his prom. That's pretty cool.
