I’ll be in the area for the Cotton Bowl. Would love to check out some music while I’m down there. Any recommendations for good country music? I did see where the Old 97s are playing the night of the game which would be cool but that would make for a very long day.

I just responded in your other thread and touched on some music venues. Robert Earl Keen is playing at House of Blues on the 28th and my brother is opening for him. Billy Bobs in Ft Worth will have some country acts but I'm not a fan of Billy Bobs. Its just a big, cheesy cowboy theme bar. Adair's in Deep Ellum in Dallas usually has a country band playing. There isn't a lot of country music in DFW anymore. What days would you be looking for some music?

Thanks for responding! We love REK and just saw him with Lovett about a month ago in Greensboro, NC. It would be 27th-29th. 29th would be a stretch though.

I went to that show last year at the HOB. It was good, but it's pretty strange.

In what way? I actually wouldn't be going if I wasn't getting in for free.

It's his Christmas show, so it's different. Every member of the band would take the lead, and play a cover of another artist. Example, the guitarist would act like Hank Williams, and play one of his songs. In between REK would play his songs.

It was good, and he played a lot of hits, but I could do without the other shite.

Gotcha. I knew it was his christmas show and so wan't a typical REK set. I guess if we get bored we may bolt. I am the only one in our group that likes REK and even then its just his old stuff. I never listen to him anymore.

I'd go again this year, but we will be out of town. There are certainly worse ways to spend an evening.

Keep any eye out to see who is playing at the Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum. By far the best music venue in the DFW metro area.

The Yard in Fort Worth is a really cool outside venue if the weather is nice. It’s an outside venue. We saw Jon Wolfe there in August. Great show!
