Fair enough.
However, I’d wager that your point is based on the assumption that these bands have not been able to create new music that is on par with their better known material. And in many cases that happens to be true.
But in Creed’s situation, I’d like new music if & only if they are able to recapture that classic sound. Mark himself has admitted in interviews that he’d like to get back to that sound because in hindsight he realizes that Full Circle strayed too far from what Creed is.
There’s a soundcheck video on YouTube from their tour in 2012 where they’re rehearsing a new song called “Shackle My Pride.” The audio isn’t the best, but it has that style that classic Creed was known for.
Better yet, have you listened to the demo “More Than This?” It was featured on the WAWO retrospective Creed put out in 2015. That song sounds like a hit, albeit the lyrics and song structure need a little polishing.
If Creed can create music like that then I say do it. Entice your fans with music they’ll love, both old classics and newer hits. When you’ve gone viral and fans are lining up to see you, it would be a waste not to.

I took my 18 year old and 3 of his friends to see Creed and Switchfoot last night.
Damn, that's a little harsh...what did they do to deserve such a punishment???

Their lyrics for "One" are incredibly relevant in today's world. It's like "damn, Scott Stapp wrote this in the 90s but it's more relevant today than it probably was even back then". It's a pretty perfect snapshot of today's culture wars.
people will hate forever, but Higher, With Arms Wide Open, One, My Own Prison, and What's this Life For , My Sacrifice, etc. are all exceptionally relevant.
Getting past the dramatic flare, as a father, With Arms Wide Open is perfect. I just really hope i don't screw this up.

They were only a band for 6 years.
This isn't true. They actually formed in 1958 as The Quarrymen with John and Paul. George joined very shortly thereafter so they were together for 12 years.

I rode in an elevator with Bert Kreischer today and almost asked him about being the first singer of Creed.
I said nothing. He was talking to his assistant and seemed pissy.

Dang. I wish I could go back in time to that concert to hear Fuel when Brett’s vocals were fresh. One of my favorite bands that I never got to see live.

Fuel was probably the best live band of that late 90’s/early 2000 radio alt rock era. I saw them twice in the early 2000’s & they just destroyed live. Brett was a great frontman.

Creed was awesome tonight in Nola. This is 3rd time seeing them. I saw them with Seven dust during the Human Clay tour in Nola and then in Bossier City Tantric opened for them for Weathered tour.

No lies told. The crowd was great for Daughtry too. I'm glad I was there for this.
