I think Hank III is the antithesis to the Nashville scene anymore.
I would agree with that.

Doors inspired Cash.
I seriously doubt Cash got this idea for the Doors. This song was on his album recorded in '66. The Doors weren't established until '65 and their first album wasn't until '67. I doubt Cash got the idea of the organ from the Doors. Johnny Cash was a innovator himself using the horns in his song Ring of Fire. He did that later when he had a hit with the Dylan tune, It Ain't Me Babe.

I like it. You will never hear this sound again. Unforunately. Hank III tries to replicate it and I enjoy his music because of it.
I've youtubed some of his stuff and I did hear some of his stuff I liked. And I do like the songs in which he uses the fiddle and has the twang in the songs. He even has his grandfather's voice in some of those songs.

I didn't know about the Cash song. I never looked it up and I figured that it was influenced by the use of the organ by The Doors.
Maybe Ray was influeneced by Cash, then.

I'm glad we had this conversation. I did some more looking on youtube to check on Hank 3 and I really like some of his stuff. He needs to keep doing his grandpa's style and stay away from the stuff of his dad...of course that's just my opinion.
I may just have to download and start listening. His best stuff to me is when plays old school stuff with the fiddle and steel guitar. It's him doing one of Hank's originals. My Sweet Love Ain't Around
This first one is my favorite of what I listened to so far.
You're the Reason

One thing good about living in the sticks like I do, we have a local radio station that plays nothing but old country. OLD country. Hank Sr. Ernest Tubb. Conway. Nothing newer than 1979. Good stuff. Too bad they are not streaming on the web.
I do wish we had a station like that here where I live. The closest we have is a station that promotes them self as playing real country, but doesn't play anything earlier than the 60's hardly except for a occasional Hank song and they play too much of the late 80's and 90's.
I've called in to their request line to ask for some Webb Pierce, Ernest Tubb and even Faron Young and always get the same response of, "I'll have to look to see if we have any of that around."
I'm gonna have to get satellite radio in my truck. I love riding in my wife's car so I can listen to Willie's Roadhouse and the Bluegrass channel.
I really enjoy listenin to this current bluegrass band, The Grascals.

Kick It In the Sitcks- Brantley Gilbert
/ END THREAD. Must watch video, defines white trash.
Worst song ever. That's saying something with the likes of "Truck Yeah" etc.
I actually don't mind Fla/Ga Line "Cruise"
And Justin Moore is actually pretty country, though he does have a twang that sounds a little fake.

I heard a song the other day they were singing about being on a Pontoon. It was really stupid. Then I was in a store shopping and I heard something even more stupid than that. It was basically this man singing to his son about all the stupid things he was gonna do in his life. That's the best I can describe it.
