NFG was never reached the levels of Fall Out Boy, Green Day, or Paramore in terms of pop punk glory but they were still a pretty solid force in the genre. Had some great songs, as always frick cancer

Chad Gilbert was the ex-husband of Hayley Williams.

They paved the way for those bands you mentioned, getting airplay with "Hit or Miss" on alt rock stations and on MTV2.

Nothing Gold Can Stay and the self-titled were formative for a micro generation of pop punk fans. I'd argue Sticks and Stones is even more iconic for the next micro generation of pop punk fans, the one currently referring to this kind of pop punk as emo on social media.

Gilbert was also an early member of straightedge hardcore band Shai Hulud, which I've always found funny.

Didn't realize he was battling so many health issues. Sucks all he was going through, cancer is a bitch.

NFG has to be on the Mt. Rushmore of pop punk, they inspired pretty much everything after the early 2000's. Bands like All Time Low and The Story so Far are named after NFG lyrics. It was songs like "All Downhill from Here" being played on TRL that got young Lionward into the pop punk rabbit hole.
