I know there was another thread on his death with reports saying he committed suicide in front of his wife I thought it needed a new one (don't care if you agree).

quote:

The Miami Herald, citing a police report, claims that Trucks shot himself in the head with a pistol while his wife of 25-years stood nearby in their West Palm Beach, Florida, condo

goes without saying that he clearly felt terrible, wasnt in his right mind etc... not trying to demonize him with this comment

but what an awful memory to force on someone.

I forget which Allman Bros bio it was (it was recent) but he was very open about drug and alcohol issues and depression.

Was it the Reel to Reel episode of the ABB? If so they were talking about Berry Oakley. He was super depressed after Duane's death.

Name of the book is One Way Out (2015), by Alan Paul.

It thorough and all surviving members give info and insight throughout the bands history. Its long but a good read.

Damn, I wonder if he was sick or something. Maybe he was just tired of living.

Isn't Derek Trucks his nephew?

ETA: sound like he had financial problems.

"Court records show the late drummer wrestled with financial problems. In 2011, he sold his prized Palm Beach home for $2 million to pay off an $800,000 bank mortgage. Federal records show the IRS hounded Trucks. Last year, the IRS filed two liens against his $500,000 condo. Trucks had to pay additional taxes for 2013 and 2014 with a total over $540,000."

Goddamn tax man.

Derrick and Duane Trucks (drummer for Widespread Panic and Hard Working Americans) are his nephews. Both of whom each have children with some incredible bloodlines, musically speaking.
