This will be my 5th BtS concert.

Me as well. Pretty excited about this one for sure, just not three openers

It looks like they are playing a handful of new songs, which I hope are cool!

How were they as just a three-piece?

I was there as well. Some terrible openers that played painfully too long. Luckily we were out back on the tracks pounding 420s until we heard BTS come on around 10ish.

Great show, as always. Doug still has it.

I was slightly disappointed with the play list because of the limited guitars, but still had some heavy jams like Carry the Zero, Virginia Reel, and Randy Described.

eta: I was hoping to hear When I'm Blind off of the latest album, but didn't play that. Did play the fist 3 tracks of the album I believe tho.

If any beer nerds are coming, they have Ghost in the Machine and Founders KBS at the Varsity. Going to be a good night.

FFS! One of my favorite bands playing somewhere with 2 of my favorite beers on tap? I'm so jealous!

And when did they become a 3 piece??

This thread was the first I heard of it. But cool story, Doug and the two others guys sat down like a table over from my wife and I at the Chimes.

I'm very confused. The second band was playing and then switched out instruments, added a couple new people and now this is the third band?

ETA: This dude is killing the maracas.

I'm not really sure what went down either. I liked the first opening guy a lot though. Almost 100% sure that was the same guy that opened for BtS in New Orleans last May.

We kind of awkwardly did, although we didn't really get into how big of fans we are. He's definitely a friendly, down to earth guy.

well that makes sense now. On Tuesday they had 3 openers advertised but I only saw 2 bands, I figured a 3rd had canceled. I also noticed that the band started with a few guys, then they included a 2nd drummer and a few more people came on, but I just figured it was the same band adding some guys. Didn't even occur to me that they had morphed into a completely different band. Guess it makes sense now though.

yeah maraca/tambourine guy went hard. I still think they played way too long.

I enjoyed the set. Doug is very talented with a unique voice and guitar sound. Was hoping I'd hear The Plan, but no dice.

Same here with the plan. That was my fifth show and I've only heard it one time.

Good show all around though. Definitely missing some fills with only the three piece, but the songs were still there. Doug is always amazing to see in person.

I picked up the setlist from the guy at the soundboard. Will post a pic of it when I get a chance.

That was my first time seeing them. A couple notes:

1. Doug Martsch is really good at guitar. He achieves a lot of sound.

2. I have never seen a band look so sad to be performing in my life.

3. Having only listened to their studio work, there was definitely a lot of times that being a three piece hurt the songs. They missed that extra layer.

4. Will definitely see them again any chance I get in the future.
