Hitting the sold out BJM show at the Toulouse Theatre in the Quarter tonight. This will be my first time seeing them live. Anyone going?

Saw them last year and it was a good show. They aren't nearly as self destructive as they used to be but Anton Newcombe looks really old. Saw The Dandy Warhols just last week and Courtney was so high he was forgetiing songs half way through. Still a fun show though.

Where were they playing?

Have you ever heard of the Shivas out of Portland? I saw them a few years ago opening for the Dandy's at the Joy Theater in New Orleans, and they have become one of my favorite bands.

Is Joel Gion still the Spokesman for the Revolution?

Here in Dallas at a new outdoor venue called Ferris Wheelers. They were co-headliners with Black Angels and played first. 4 songs into Black Angels set it started pissing down rain so show was stopped.

I've seen them on KEXP but never live.

The Dandy's and the Black Angels sounds like an amazing lineup.

Was Courtney just stoned or you think something harder?

Ha, I think just stoned. The keyboard chick, Zia, was acting like a Mom trying to keep a 4 year old focused. She kept telling him what song was next and bitching at him when he screwed up. It was quite entertaining. It was the last show of their tour with Black Angels and then they all went to Austin and played Levitation festival which is on my wish list to go to.

Ended up being a really good show, we got the real Anton experience in person too. He had a fan in the front row tossed out for yelling "Happy Halloween" one too many times in between songs.
