Honestly thought I would be the same, but live its really entertaining and much less mundane.

Without a doubt one of the best live acts today. 27 strings from 5 incredible artist that make a wall of sound that I have never heard from a live act, and I have seen over a hundred live shows. I don't really care if he gets bigger as I fricking love their live shite!!!!!!

All I know is I have seen him live in NOLA over the last 3 NY and he is getting better each year.

I agree with this but after a couple of hours, it all starts to sound the same to me. I think he's a fantastic guitar player and his band is great as well, but I can only listen to so much bluegrass. The scene he brings is as varied as it comes which is refreshing.

Found the Billy Strings groupie who tells everyone who will listen that BS is the greatest musician and probably gets defensive when those people don’t seem to get it.

Then what is the point of this board, if not to discuss music: likes, dislikes, critiques, etc.?

its not for everyone, but his live shows are just so damn good. He isn't in my everyday rotation but I don't miss a chance to see him when he comes close to home. He is very talented and is an amazing song writer. The man puts 5-8k people in the seats for damn bluegrass.

But I need to understand why we don’t like that same music!!!!!!
Different strokes for different folks.

The lack of drums irritates me.

I had the same concern, until I saw him live. You’ll forget you even gave a shite about drums with that bassist

Talking about why you don't like something is much less interesting and poses a lot of challenges as to why you might like someone or think they are just pretty good.

The negative is just so much harder to flip or have an honest discussion about. You'll never see the point and that's ok. No one is going to make you see Billy Strings differently.

And I'm not a huge Strings fan, so don't take that as defense. His latest album is awesome, but bluegrass has a short immediate shelf life for me in general. I can onl take so much within a 24 hour period.

And yet here we are a couple of posts away from 4 pages.

This board gets so little traffic, we should be happy for ANY posts.

I felt the same way for the last few years. I've love seeing him play with other people - billy and the kids, phish, etc. I just got bored watching the live stuff people recommended.

However, I went to 1 of the 3 shows over new years and I was blown away seeing them live. He has surrounded himself with really good musicians. They're jams are as close to the dead sounding as most. I will check them out when they are in nola from now on. I'll even drag my wife to a show - she doesn't like bluegrass at all.

To whom it may concern:
You might not be a bluegrass fan, you might not want to buy his albums or listen to them often, however, if you are a fan of live music, I would be shocked if you came away from one of his live shows and weren't smiling from ear to ear.
