Flaming lips at hangout in 2011. I was bored to tears after hearing how amazing they were supposed to be.

Primus earlier this year at the Sugarmill were boring. It was very late and they didn't play the songs I wanted to hear.

Alice in Chains. Just a terrible, disinterested show from guys who clearly wanted to be anywhere else than on a stage with each other. And I really like AiC, but an awful show.

The Strokes circa 2003. I forget the venue. I'm pretty sure they didn't want to be there.
Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa last year. 930 club. They were way too high to be performing. All they did was talk about how high they were.
Bloc Party circa 2007 -- this was at the DAR in DC, and it was just a bad venue for them. I'm going to see Bloc Party again at a different venue and I expect it to be a lot better.

Band of Horses last year sucked

Lil Wayne in New Orleans about a year and a half ago.

The Times, Mothers' Mantle, sometime in the early 80s. It was right around the time their LP came out. God, what a horrible band that was.

I was at the Kings of Leon show in Dallas when Caleb left the stage after about 20 minutes.
What happened exactly?

And DMB. Saw them for the first time at Jazz Fest a few years ago. I guess I'd heard such great things about his shows that my expectations were too high. He sounded good but the constant noodling got boring. Plus it was way too crowded.
That's what they are known for. They jam better than 99% of "jam bands"

Wow, I might have been at that same show! One of my roommates was a big fan, and since he went to The Cold's show with me, I went to The Times with him. I remember from that night on, whenever he mentioned them, my response was "The Times suck". Then they became U.S. Times, so I would say "U.S. Times suck".
He never liked it...

I'm not a fan of Dave at all but I saw him & Tim at Farm Aid two years ago. Up until that point the previous acts sound wasn't very loud but they came on and it seemed like sound doubled and they just crushed the shite out of All Along the Watchtower. They played like six songs and I was really enjoyed it.
I saw Ozzy on the "No More Tours" tour, must have been '92, and it kind of sucked. And I saw Alabama on their farewell tour, '03 maybe, and was completely underwhelmed. Those are probably my two big disappointments.

Funny, that. I'm guessing that might have been the only show they ever did at the Mantle....they only booked bands there for a relatively short period of time. The "regular clientele" didn't like "their" hangout being invaded like that too much

I really hope you are joking.

What was/is one of you favorite bands that you were so excited to see live that turned into a huge letdown for you?
The Replacements (they did what everyone was always afraid they would do, and applaud, but think 'just don't let it happen when you're playing for me').

With or without Staley?

Pinback. They just didn't really gel on the stage very well. Judgement Day made it well worth the ticket price, though.

With. When touring behind Dirt. I'm glad they are still making money, but I do not recognize post-Staley AiC.
