Best Soundgarden album?

Louder Than Love, no question, for me. Maybe it's because of the "garagesque" sound and not all souped up (which I love) studio fluff.
Badmotorfinger and Superunknown were also great, but Soundgarden nailed iot with their 2nd album. Give it a listen on Youtube -- full album, if you're wanting to hear something that DOES NOT sound like Nirvana or Pearl Jam or all the other sterotyped Seattle bands. Soundgarden is totally original on this album. It's like they're a hair band who warped into a different world and came back 5 minutes later and started playing like a 90's rock band.

Badmotorfinger is one of my favorite albums ever. I love Superunknown too but for different reasons.

I agree, Stalin, about Badmotorfinger. It's not far behind. "Slaves and Bulldozers" does it for me.

Badmotorfinger, easily. Not a single weak track to be found. I agree with you about the sound on Louder Than Love. I think "Hands All Over" is great, as well. There are just a few clunkers along for the ride that make me put Badmotorfinger on top.

Ultramega OK was interesting when it came out... after that they were just way too metal for my taste (and his voice)
I remember seeing Flower on 120 minutes...
A friend brought me to a show at UNO 93/94?? and they def had a huge sound...

Superunknown in a close one with Badmotorfinger for me, but only because I fricking love listening to Mailman more than any other song 
I think they're both great albums though. I've met people who like Ultramega OK best, LL the best, heck even some who prefer Down on the Upside.

Me also -- when they had the Japanese bassist.
They were much heavier in the late 80's; that's no shocker. They were resisting all of what they felt was image rock and pop metal. They were right in their honesty I suppose.
Louder Than Love is still heavy and dark, but very melodic...much moreso than Ultramega OK. The songs are just incredibly addictive with some great guitar intros and some powerful, crunchy and hard-hitting rifs.
Badmotorfinger was probably their best overall work in terms of production. The songs were damned good, too. The first 4 songs on the album -- listening to them is like taking a huge rail of speed. Good stuff.
Superunknown didn't quite do it for me as others. Spoonman was a song that just annoyed me. BlackHoleSun was great, but then you pull up to your church parking lot and 14 year old girls are singing it. Still, some great tracks and Cornell, lyrically, shines.
Down on the Upside was great. By this time, the metal is pretty much gone from their catalogue and they are focusing on bluesy rifs and you can tell, Cornell is starting to drift a lot more to almost a ballad. Sure enough, he'd release "Sunshower" as a soloist just 2 years later...he had to have been writing that material while Soundgarden was still together.
I still have never seen them.

Hopefully you'll get a chance to. I've seen them twice. Both times they opened with "Searching With My Good Eye Closed" and I could literally barely catch my breath.
