That would have to be my top three. I think. Maybe.

Honorable mentions would be Jason Isbell and Langhorne Slim.

As far as songwriting for bands in general...

Lord Huron, The National, Dawes, and maybe old Mumford & Sons.

This is a spur of the moment list. Who do you got?

You exclusively listen to bands fronted by dudes with acoustic guitars?

I do, pretty much

Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes
Justin Vernon better known as Bon Iver
Dallas Greene aka City and Colour
Ben Howard

a lot of people would say Ryan Adams. I appreciate him but don't always love him

Neil Young is still alive so.. him.
Same with Bob Dylan

I agree with all these, with Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes being the best

Not at all. And none of the people/bands I mentioned only play acoustic.

I thought the same thing at first... but after seeing him perform that album twice live, and having listened to it about 3048573458 times, I love it as much as his others

Great list. I have Ben Schneider from Lord Huron at the top right now.

Love The National but Matt Berninger has pretty much admitted his lyrics are just disconnected thoughts and often times drunken gibberish.

Schneider's stuff is so cohesive and telling

I can imagine it was pretty good live. I'll watch that video when I get a chance. I just tried multiple times and couldn't get into it. Other than 33 GOD, that is an awesome song.

And it doesn't take away from his earlier stuff either way.

I did like the volcano choir album.

I searched and didn't see much mentioned about them so I didn't know if there were many people on here that liked them.

Their new album didn't do it that much for me, other than a few songs. But their first two albums I could listen to all day. Lonesome Dreams being one of my favorite albums of all time.

And seeing them live in a small venue was amazing too.

I love that they tell a story with each album and it's not the same theme over and over, they are truly unique.

Its a critics album (though I love it). If this album wouldve stayed in the vein of the last 2, the critics wouldve panned it. Taking no risks or evolving etc...

Love the distorted guitars, garage sound, while still maintaining the lush basslines and incredible storytelling.

Rodney Crowell not far behind.
