Popular wasn't even that big of a hit.. never cracked the top 10 of Alt Rock radio (was #1 in Iceland tho??), got a lot of play on MTV bc of the video... but the band has pretty much maintained a solid following since.

They had a brilliant body of work -- but only one hit in America

The La's. One Hit. One Album. It's a great one.

In America? Only one I ever heard played on radio here was Love Spreads. They were pretty big across the pond, but my recollection was that they never cracked it here.

Great song, but I NEVER hear anyone speak of another song, and none of my music services ever play another.

I just remembered they headlined Coachella one year, and so many people left when they played... the promoters switched their spot with Blur on the schedule the second weekend

Tommy Tutone had a Top 40 hit the year before Jenny. Angel Say No went to #38 on the Hot 100.
