Good call. I saw Spock's Beard on a cruise ship. Had breakfast one morning in the main dining hall while Neal was playing piano. Talked to him for a little bit after I was done eating and he was finished playing. Nice guy.

3 great bands. Saw Symphony X recently in Carrboro at Cat's Cradle, great show. I need to check out the recommendation for Romeo's solo work.

2 I'll add in the prog but extreme metal vein:

Ne Obliviscaris - Australia based group, clean & growl vocals, some really long epic tunes/suites. They are to me kind of like a Rush or Yes of extreme metal. Long awaited new record should be out this year.
Intra Venus
And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope

Allaegeon - Out of Colorado, and just fantastic. Their new album DAMNUM is great, and they release some really great covers during downtime. Speaking of Yes, how about a Roundabout cover...

3 should have been big:

Dregs

Josh Eppard is now a member of Coheed and Cambria, but his brother Joey deserves some love.

Thanks for the heads up! Never heard of them. Just listened to Paper Tiger and The Wonder Of It All and immediately ordered the album. Good stuff! Appreciate it!

Speaking of King's X, I still listen to the first Pinnick Gales Pridgen album regularly. Great album.
