Does anyone have a book about the Beatles you would recommend?

All The Songs: The Story Behind Every Beatles Release

I'm currently reading Tune In by Mark Lewisohn. It's volume 1 of a planned 3 part history. This covers through 1962. Its over 800 pages. If you are a big fan it is very good. Just a ton of detail. I recommend.

You Never Give Me Your Money
I found this to be a very insightful look at the end of the Beatles.

I recently picked up a copy of the book "Can't Buy Me Love". I haven't started it yet but I probably will after I get done watching "Get Back".

For someone who is totally new to the Beatles, I always recommend The Beatles Forever by Nicholas Schaffner. It's old but a very good general introduction.
I also recommend the documentary The Compleat Beatles. It's similar to the Anthology but much shorter.
Somebody recommended You Never Give Me Your Money. It's an excellent book, but don't start out with it. Get familiar with the band and read a few other books first.

Mark Lewisohn GOAT
Volume 1 came out 9 years ago and as of last year he was still working on Volume 2 with no completion date available
If that tells you anything about his craft

Here, There and Everywhere by Geoff Emerik. He was the engineer on almost every Beatle recording. There is also a web site that is detailed recording and song origin information.

He had an axe to grind against John and George Martin, and he kissed Paul's arse, probably in hopes of working with him again.
After the book was published and its many errors were pointed out, Emerick blamed his "faulty memory" as an alibi

Beatlesongs by William Dowlding--- just an incredibly in depth look at their songwriting and musicianship.
As far as a large over view of the Beatles go, I would just read the Anthology.

Interesting. Is there a single source for the errors?

The Love You Make
by Peter Brown
I found it an enjoyable read. Lots of juicy gossip and inside information. Written by one of their former business managers.

These books have two things in common: The author is central to everything Brian Epstein does, and the other two are barely mentioned, if they are mentioned at all. There are never sentences like "Alistair and Tony and I were in Brian's office" or "Peter, Tony, and I listened as Brian told us about the deal."
IIRC Taylor is mentioned once in Brown's book. I don't think Bramwell is mentioned at all.
Just something to keep in mind when reading books by Beatle insiders.

Too bad the best book died in the 70’s. Mal Evans was the closest to everything they did.

I can’t recall which Beatles book I read when I was young. I do remember reading this interview in Playboy:

I have an acquaintance, Bruce Spizer in New Orleans, who is considered a Beatles expert, who has authored 13 books and contributed much of the material for the Trivial Pursuit Beatles Edition. If you decide to get one of his books he will autograph it to you. Should be able to find/contact him via Google, Facebook I guess.
