Because it’s solely about guitar stores. Be staying in north Austin area. Old Dominion area I think?

I bet Austin has an unusually high % of left handed guitars.

Erlewine Guitars has been a place I've wanted to check out for a while. It's north central.

I don't know about guitar shops but the first thing I'd be finding out is if Collings Guitars has an on-site store, if they offer factory tours, and/or if you can pick planks for a truly custom build.

As a lefty guitar player, I bet they don't. In all my guitar searching, Austin has never stood out, is all I mean.

Or, unusually high might mean they have 5 vs a regular store having 1-2.

My go-to lefty shop is South Paw guitars in Houston. Nothing but lefties. There's also Jerry's in Florida.

All over this. The Taylor tour was awesome.

Called.

Still closed from Covid. They are cleared to re open just haven’t decided when. Due to staffing and logistics I guess.

It is close but he only sells his own correct?

If he sells luthier tools and jigs I am there. Lol

That's why I learned to play right handed, plus lefty guitars just look weird to me.

There is a very cool short doc about this guy doing maintenance on Willie’s guitar, Trigger. Worth a watch

Well. Here’s the 3 spots I checked out.

An Austin Guitar Center. Not bad. If u want to check out a ton of fenders they had them. And all amps were wired ready for u to plug in.

South Austin Music. Very cool shop. The guys are all over you but they are really just there for questions and to make sure you’re not an idiot or a thief. They have a vintage acoustic room with a cool assortment of everything. They can see you through a big window so they actually let you in and leave you alone. Gibsons were the majority of old stuff they had at this time.

Austin Vintage Guitar. Same cool vintage room. Martin 18 tier guitars were all over. 50’s and 60’s era. The only things that are out of reach needing a salesman, are what you’d expect. D42 or a D45. DIDNT check the back. Collings and high end Martin’s. Also Les Pauls. They had a ton but the vintage or customs were out of reach.

I believe it was a joke about Austin politics.

Didn’t check out Erlewine as he’s more of a high end luthier (willie being a client probably gets him top dollar) and custom electric builds.

Collings was a far drive and not fully open for tours.
