Took a week but finally arrived yesterday. Despite some reviews claiming the sound isn't worth it, they are wrong. The balance does vary from track to track, and McCoy's piano is low in some but better in others. (I wonder if some of the complainers only listened to the 1st track.) Elvin's drums do sometimes overwhelm at times but damn, this is how drums should sound.

MUST HAVE for Coltrane fans.

Had a fun jazz listening session with a friend last weekend.

The Mingus is of course a well known classic; we compared to the hi-res version on Tidal and the LP held up well, with what seemed like some details that weren't present on the streamed version. The Monk is a live radio broadcast, mono, but sounds very good and is a terrific performance from his classic quartet. The Konitz/Mulligan is a great "west coast" set; not my main groove but nice to sample. I wasn't familiar with Gabor Szabo before picking this up; some of it is a tad pop-y for my taste, similar to the direction Wes Montgomery went in the mid-late 60s.

1981- CBS Mastersound

Fantastic sounding option for anyone that doesn’t wanna drop $1,500 for the one step.

For metal Friday tonight... 1st I wish I could say it was a guilty pleasure but while I like some of the later Delain records, the debut aside from some nice vocal guest appearances isn't great and the sonics aren't either.

I picked up that Gil Evans recently on sale and am looking forward to spinning it.

Also recently picked up one of my all time favorites on Verve's website, on sale:
