I somehow managed to get some time to myself this morning and spent it sitting in front of my system. I'm probably late to the party but Terraformer by Thank You Scientist is a great album!

Saw them a few years back at Gasa Gasa in NOLA on the “Stranger Heads Prevail” tour. Great show, love the horns. Have not heard this one yet, will definitely have to check it out.

Nanci Griffith “One Fair Summer Evening”, 1988 OP.

Such a powerful and angelic voice, this lady could sure fill up a room with it. Great live album that was recorded over two nights in Houston, Texas at the Anderson Fair. The song “Trouble in the Fields”, which she wrote about the Great Depression is kind of fitting somewhat right now.

Josh Ritter: The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter

By far the best purchase I’ve made on Discogs.

The regular version goes for $28 in most record stores.

I got a special edition red version, which comes with a bonus LP of 8 unreleased songs for $15, and it was only played twice.

I’ve been listening to a lot of albums lately working from home, and I’d LOVE to hear this album on a rig like Marco’s. Pretty much all Low albums sound incredible sonically on any system, so I can only imagine how good it would sound on a monster setup.

Yo Marco, where are you at on your house projects? Is your listening room set back up, and have the 3rd generation half master albums started coming in yet?

PhillipMarlowe,

Slow progress, but due to procrastination. I am almost finished one, and halfway through the other.

I will go all out this upcoming week and try to get them done.

As for the master reels, the company shipping me the 5 cases of ATR Magnetics tape is temporarily closed. I imagine I will get them sometime in May and then I have to get them to my source for the transfer of music. So, realistically, it’s probably 2-3 months away until I get the first batch. I do already have a few here though.

Listening room is set up, and the in the evenings for the last week I have been going through the 126 page manual “Getting Started With REW”—that is the free software for everything measurements. It can get pretty complicated, so I figured I would read the entire software operating manual, then start from the beginning as I set the instruments up so I get my tests correct. There are a number of things that need to be done so the calibration of the mic is correct and the baselines are set properly.

I will hopefully start the installation of the Xillica XP4080 digital signal processor this evening.

Has anyone listened to the Metallica remasters? Are they any good? Any bass guitar on Justice?

Good question. I’ve also been thinking about the best Metallica pressings to go after.
