I'm 46 and have completely slept on the Rolling Stones my whole life. I'm familiar with their bigger hits and have always liked a few of them (with a few songs that seemed overplayed). Recently, I have really started to dig into all their older albums. Holy hell, they are fantastic. I have that great feeling of discovering a new artist that I like with the added bonus of a huge catalog already available.

Has anybody else stumbled in to an artist or band late in the process and who is it? Curious as to what else I may be missing.

I discovered the Dead at the end of high school thanks to the great movie Mask. Ripple was played at the end of the movie and I was hooked. I doubt I'll ever make it through the entire catalog, but has been fun trying.

I'm ready, willing and able. Huge Stones, Zep, Who etc fan since the 70's.

I have no trouble jamming out to the Who or Zeppelin, but I really struggle to enjoy getting deep into the Rolling Stones. There's some good stuff in there like "Can You Here Me Knockin", but so much of it is just kinda...there to me. The Grateful Dead never did much for me either. I see why others like it, but it's just not my thing.

I actually came to the Stones fairly late and had a reasonably similar experience. However, they have just as many bad songs as they do great songs (Shattered, anyone?). The Beatles really barely have any bad songs at all.

I was very late to Helloween - just last year. I wish I had known about them in the 80s.

The Stones are great. Bunch of guys from the UK, who mix pure rock, country, disco, pop, and many other styles with ease. The variety and breadth of their work is amazing.

I didn't know much of anything nor give a shite about Rush until Roll the Bones was released.

Talk about going back and diving into a treasure trove of an existing catalog.

Not sure how I made it that long without finding out what the hype was all about.

I don't think it a stretch to say they very well could be the greatest band of all time?
