Anyone down to start a Ween cover band? I haven't played guitar in a while but could pick it up very easily. That or a 90s grunge/alternative cover band (lithium channel) would be fun.

Two years ago I'd be all in on a 90s grunge/alternative band. I could play every TOOL, AIC, Pearl Jam, STP, and Foo fighter song back in the day.

Hey Gaucho, we're starting a 90's grunge/alt rock band on page 7 of the thread! You in on drums?

F&ck, why not? If we have another singer we can do "Hunger Strike", "Down", and "Epic".

Pretty much any Dave Grohl or Eddie Vedder song is going to be in my vocal range. I can't pull off Chris Cornell, though, his range is just too crazy awesome.

"C. if they do exist, and you just so happen to meet them they will be so repulsed by your attitude that they won't want to work with you. "

Wow! That's not true at all. I was repulsed by you when you brought up that crap regarding that guitar players should get laid, while keyboard players don't. That is small-minded "fake musician" logic.

I want to see someone who's a lot more educated than that. Someone who's not insecure in himself, and doesn't pursue rock to attract a mate, but instead plays music because he wants to cheer people up, or make them feel various emotions.

What about Ian Curtis in terms of vocals?

I'm not a huge Joy Division fan, but they're alright and I could pull that off. I can sing low like that with a British accent, and in tune to boot.

You guys into Dax Riggs or Deadboy and the Elephent Men? When I do find time to jam, it's been some of that lately.

Is anyone here truly serious? Because I can't take anyone's post here seriously.

Like when someone says they'd be interested in jamming with me, only to not even be into ANY of the stuff I enjoy, and have been currently working on musically.

Good stuff. I'm loving the electric sludge blues/stoner metal movement lately. Bands like Sleep, White Light Cemetery, All Them Witches, Anders Osborne, etc.

I really wish we'd gotten a video of this original song we played at our last show. It was the first and only time we'd ever played it. Definitely heavy sound like All Them Witches, but clearly blues in form like Black Keys. It was awesome.

I've only had a few truly great music moments on stage as a performer, when it feels like the entire energy of the room stops and focuses only on the music being played, and that night it happened with that song. Our other heavy blues rock song "Burn It Down" had a similar moment the first time we played it too. That one's on the EP.

Also again, when I get a response to my request. how do I arrange a way to meet the guy who's interested? How do we exchange pictures, and e-mail and phone numbers so I can get to know the person better.

I just thought of something. The 90s rock obsession could be a facade. The guy interested might actually be hiding his true feelings for keyboard and synth, but has to put on a facade for his friends.

Nah. I believe you're overthinking it.

Another thing I've been meaning to ask is where are some of the talented male singers around my age? Like someone who has a low baritone like Ian Curtis (but of course, is much healthier). Or someone who has a good rock and pop voice like Richard Marx, or Adam Lambert. Or what about someone who's like David Archuleta? Or someone who has a voice like Matt Nathanson.

And where are those musicians around my age who aren't doing the stuff that's typical around Baton Rouge. Those who are willing to shout to the mountaintop that they are a fan of more of the artists I enjoy, and are different from the norm who prefer 90s rock, and metal.

And again, those who are much more educated and who don't bring up how much sex you get whether you play guitar or keyboard. That shouldn't be a factor.

"Oh hey Clifford"

So, are you a somewhat nerdy guy in his late 20s or early 30s who might be interested in getting together to jam to some great pop covers, and possibly help me start writing some originals? Doing it at your apartment or house?

We may go out and play after practicing, we might not. But my search is just about hanging out and having fun. Not making money playing music or impressing the ladies or anything like that. The idea is that I want to just entertain.

If I were you, I would start hanging out at those musician jam sessions at Baton Rouge Music Studio and going to shows at the Atomic Pop Shop and the Parlor. Remember, the majority of people who go out to see local musicians perform are other local musicians. They may be in bands, or they may just play in their dorms.

Going to these places and meeting people is a great way to build a network of friends and discover people who have tastes outside of the mainstream. It's a great way to find those people who are looking for fellow musicians to collaborate with.

Shows at those places are typically BYOB, and most of the people there don't drink or do drugs. It's just a laid back environment of fellow musicians supporting and listening to each other. Some people even bring their dogs.
