I love a good amphitheater with great views. I’ve been to a ton of larger ones like Red Rocks, and Gorge amphitheater. For example of what I’m looking for as far as smaller venues is places like Dillon amphitheater. I went there 5 times this past summer. Anyone got any recommendations like this? ...

I hate playing those or any outdoor venue during the day.

Well I don’t play for a band. I watch, and enjoy. Thanks for the recommendations. That’s probably why you’re posting here, and not making it anywhere. Sorry you’re a hater.

Most people think of the Hollywood Bowl when it comes to L.A. amphitheaters but the Greek Theater in Griffith Park is my preferred place to catch an outdoor show. It holds a crowd of around 5k. Saw Band of Horses there as well The War on Drugs. Both great shows

wonderful venue. I saw Neil Diamond there and since he had recorded my fav album there (Hot August Night), it was great to imagine how it was in '72

Ascend in Nashville is cool. Obviously, Starwood when I was growing up was the shite.

the Ford amphitheater in Vail is the nicest, prettiest, most enjoyable small amphitheater I’ve ever been to.

A show there is worth a special trip

another special trip worthy spot is town park stage in telluride. It’s just a stage in a green park but it’s surrounded by trees and the box canyon with a damn waterfall running above and behind it.

Hard to believe the dead once played there, that must have been something to see.

It’s an expensive trip but we’ve been to the RIDE festival there twice in the past and going again this year.

I've never been, but the Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels has always looked cool to me.

It holds a little more than 5,000, and the stage backs to the Guadalupe River.

My neighbors told me about this one in Sweden in an old rock quarry.

I don’t know if this counts as an amphitheater but The Caverns in TN looks to be unique: LINK

Chastain Amphitheater in ATL is decent.

The Santa Barbara Bowl is awesome as well. I saw Flight of the Conchords there back when I was a teen.

Outdoor gigs are completely reliant upon the weather, and the weather in the South SUCKS most of the year. It's always either ridiculously hot, sleeting cold, or storming. There's maybe like a dozen nice days each year, and it will never be one of the ones where you're performing. Believe it or not, though, there's actually large swaths of the country where this is not the case. A lot of places actually have a huge chunk of the year where it is always pleasant to be outside. I know this is crazy coming from South Louisiana, but it's true.

The Caverns in Pelham, TN built a temporary outdoor stage for COVID that is now a full time amphitheater
