Brinsley Schwarz on German TV (March 6, 1975)
Very rare clips from an otherwise lost Rockpalast appearance by the kings of Pub Rock. These clips only survived because they were rerun on a morning TV show a few days later. The hostess and panelists are clearly having the time of their lives.
The highlights of this brief set are the Brinsleys' classic riff on Sweetheart-era Byrds, "Country Girl", and an early performance of a recent composition by bassist Nick Lowe, a little ditty called "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, & Understanding".

I like Nick Lowe. My only criticism is a slight one, simply that I tend to like a lot of the early seventies country influenced rock bands a bit more than Brinsley Schwartz and a ton of laid back power pop more than his solo stuff and Rockpile.
He kind of became a hugely trendy icon for a lot of the newer powerpop bands of 2005-2009 that I always thought was slightly overblown.

"jesus of cool" is a fantastic album. dont really care that much for rockpile, or the his other solo stuff.

The Dave Edmunds albums Lowe worked on are great. But I admit, the one studio album actually credited to Rockpile is kind of disappointing.
Lowe also produced the first Graham Parker album, one of the greatest debuts ever

A fact unknown to many people.
Saw Lowe perform acoustically on tv recently (forget on what program). Pretty nice catalog.

I've always like the "Little Village" record. That's a group he had with John Hiatt, Ry Cooder, and JIm Keltner.
The whole record has a really unique sound. A bit dated now but still really cool.
